Convenient but flawed accessible parking

The Osprey charging machine at the top of EV charging bays on the ground floor. Their concrete base is raised higher than the bay and there is a bollard on each front corner. There is a screen and payment point on the right-hand side and two charging cables docked on the left-hand side.

This is a paid, 24/7, multi-storey car park that is just a short walk from Stratford International Station. According to its website, it has 850 parking spaces including accessible parking spaces and EV charging bays. It has a height restriction of 2 metres. The car park has received Park Mark accreditation. This is an accreditation by the British Transport Police, which means it has been vetted by them and has measures in place to make it safer to park in. There are two lifts that travel between all the floors of the car park. There are a large number of accessible parking spaces on the lowest level of the car park and a bank of charging bays that are operated by Osprey. This car park provides a reasonable option for accessible parking, however, the EV charging bays are not very accessible at all. Parking tariffs can change on event days.

The pedestrian entrance to the car park is step-free and has two sets of doors leading into the bottom floor of the car park. There are also two lifts that travel to the other floors. There are payment machines close to the pedestrian entrance. These machines are very high and I found it was difficult to interact with them from my wheelchair. It did seem like it was the only way to pay for parking unless you had pre-booked your spot. There were quite a few accessible parking spaces on the bottom level of the car park. I saw around 30 bays in total. They were laid out with two connected on one side and then hatch markings around the sides of the two bays. There were also a few individual bays with hatch markings on both sides of the bays. This means that if you require additional space on both sides of the vehicle there are not as many options to choose from. The accessible parking spaces were all painted blue with a wheelchair inside of them. I travelled to this place by walk or wheel

Stratford International Railway Station is just 200 metres down the road from the car park. From here, you can get Southeastern trains. 300 metres away is Stratford City Bus Station, where there are a large number of London Buses as well as National Express and FlixBus coaches to Stansted Airport. 500 metres away is Stratford Railway Station, which has a large number of services available including the Central Line, DLR, Elizabeth Line, Jubilee Line, Mildmay Line, and Greater Anglia services.
