Here at The Circle Mobility, we offer a variety of mobility aids that are free of charge for single-day use. They are also available for multiday hire at a small cost. Our fleet contains a range of equipment, including manual wheelchairs, self-propelled wheelchairs, and electric wheelchairs. One of our electric wheelchairs can be broken down into 4 separate parts to fit into most cars, making it ideal for taking on a day trip or a weekend break. We also offer 3 and 4-wheeled mobility scooters and wheeled walkers.

Some newer additions to the service include ramps and accessible bikes. One of the ramps is a smaller, lightweight one, and the other is a large car loading ramp.

The smaller ramp is the Aerolight-Xtra Portable Folding Wheelchair Ramp. It can accommodate wheelchairs and mobility scooters and is ideal for getting up single steps, such as when you need to mount a curb while parking on the street. It weighs only 6.5kg and has a convenient carry handle. The ramp is 3 feet long and has a maximum weight limit of 450kg (71st).

The larger ramp is a Royston Resources Car Loading Ramp. It is 5 feet long and has a 272kg (43 stone) capacity, making it useful for navigating a couple of stairs or loading a mobility aid into a vehicle. While it is a heavier ramp, we are unable to provide the exact weight.

Our bike fleet includes several options. The VanRaam Opair is a trike with a comfortable seat fixed to the front, ideal for individuals with limited or no mobility who can be transferred from their wheelchair to the passenger seat. This bike is perfect for people who wouldn’t be able to ride a bike independently due to limited mobility. The seat positioning allows the rider (person pedaling the trike) a clear view of the road while also being able to see the passenger. The weight limit for the passenger seat is 120kg (18.8 stone), and the rider weight limit is also 120kg. The trike also comes with a luggage rack that can carry up to 20kg.

The VanRaam VeloPlus3 is an electric trike with a ramp fixed to the front, allowing a wheelchair user to be secured to the trike without needing to get out of their chair. The positioning of the passenger seat allows the rider a clear view of the road while also seeing the passenger. The weight limit for the passenger portion is 140kg (22 stone), including the wheelchair, and the rider weight limit is 120kg (18.89 stone). This trike also features a luggage rack with a 20kg capacity.

The Mission Evolution is an electric trike with a step-through frame that makes mounting and dismounting easier. This trike is ideal for someone who is comfortable cycling alone but may struggle with balance or prefers a more stable riding experience without worrying about balancing a regular bicycle. It also has a large luggage basket at the back with a 15kg capacity. The maximum rider weight for this trike is 110kg (17.3 stone).

Finally, we have 2x Raleigh StowEways, which are electric bikes with a low frame, perfect for those visiting Dundee who want to explore the local cycle routes, such as Route 1, the Green Circular, or the Public Art Dundee Cycle Trail. The bikes fold down to a compact size and weigh 20kg, making them ideal for taking on a bus or train. The pedals also flatten, so they can even fit in an ambitiously sized car boot. The luggage rack can carry a maximum of 15kg, and the maximum rider weight is 110kg (17.3 stone).

Disabled Access at The Circle Mobility

The ground outside is tarmac that has small pebbles and gravel across the surface, however not enough that it will impact wheels of an aid. The front doors are automatic with a step free entrance into the building. There is a large anti-slip mat as you enter followed by laminate. The door at the rear that accesses the car park swings open into the carpark, and there is a very minor incline to enter the doorway. This door is wide enough for mobility scooters, motorised wheelchairs, and manual wheelchairs to fit through. There is also an anti-slip mat at this door as you enter.

There are two parking spaces to the immediate right of the building. There is also a gated parking garage that has four parking spaces. Users parking in the garage can access The Circle Mobility through a door at the rear of the building that leads directly into the carpark, negating the need to walk around the entire building to enter.

Toilets features at The Circle Mobility

The accessible toilet has a red pull cord, grab rails on both sides of the toilet and on the door, and easy turn taps. The door opens outwards and staff will always open this for members if needed. The door is wide enough for wheelchairs and motorised wheelchairs, with space for a right hand transfer. The light switch is located outside the toilet on the right hand side wall at a level suitable for wheelchair users. The lock is a rotating lock that turns smoothly.
