The Dorothy Clive Garden provides a special experience for all ages. Created 60 years ago for Dorothy Clive by her husband, the garden has developed greatly since those early days. It is now considered one of the best 10 woodland gardens in Britain. It is still best known for its Rododendron and Azalea Quarry garden but now also has a beautiful Winter Garden and enhanced spring and summer borders. Also of note is the arboretum and the Mediterranean Glasshouse. The Dorothy Clive Garden is a charity dependant on visitors, volunteers and donations. It is a place of beauty and peace. it gives the opportunity for exercise and promotes health and well being.

Disabled Access at The Dorothy Clive Garden

The Dorothy Clive Garden is a hillside garden with all the limitations that entails. However it is our intention that all visitors to the garden enjoy fair and equal access wherever possible. Most of the garden is accessible to wheelchairs although a few flights of steps exist in the centre of the Quarry. Disabled parking is available on the Upper car park. This is marked clearly on the map. The garden boasts around 50 seats set at regular intervals to rest, relax and be inspired. Ramps and steps are available to allow access to Tearoom, Giftroom and lavatories. Wheelchairs may be borrowed free of charge and a 'Tramper' Motorised vehicle is available but we do ask that this is booked in advance to allow for training. A hearing loop has been fitted in the Pavilion and a loop system is available in both the Tearoom and the Giftroom. Quiet areas are available around the garden.

Parking is available on the upper car park which then allows easier access to the Quarry garden, children's play area, Tearooms and Giftroom.

There are accessible toilets on three sites within the garden. Grab rails are not available in the Tearoom toilets. Access is via a ramp and the doors all meet requirements.
