Excellent

We visited this museum whilst on a road trip exploring Angus. Forfar has a rich history and this museum helped us to understand more about the town and surrounding area. It doesn't open until 10:30 in the morning and we spent about 90 minutes there.

Disabled Access In and Around

Good

I had no problems getting around the museum. There is a lift to the first floor, where the pottery exhibition is. The ground floor is well laid out and easy to get around, except for the Forfar Vennel. This is a street scene, which is heavily cobbled. I was fine as I had my freewheel on but some manual wheelchairs might struggle with the uneven surface. It was really interesting though and the cobbles made it feel more realistic.

I travelled to this place by walk or wheel

We walked here from the campsite at the Loch. Forfar is quite hilly and although I managed in my wheelchair, I was glad to have my husband there to help when needed. There are car parks in town but not at the museum. The museum is on a slight hill. The pavement is quite wide outside.

Accessible Toilets

Good

There was one accessible toilet. The doorway is quite narrow. I got through okay but wider wheelchairs might get stuck. Once inside, there was plenty of space and it was clean and functional.
