Overview

We booked here for lunch because I saw a previous review and we often struggle to find accessible places for lunch in small towns. I am so glad we did! The food was really tasty and well presented and the staff dealt with my rather complicated allergy really well. The only negative was the toilet... more later.

Transport & Parking

We travelled by motorhome, which often makes parking more difficult. We parked in Castle Car Park, in a coach bay, which cost us £5 for the day. Blue badge holders can park free through in designated spaces. It's just that we are too big for them. The walk back to the restaurant was less than half a mile, flat and not too difficult.

Access

4.5

The restaurant has level entry and is well laid out with plenty of space to move around. The only tight bit is getting to the toilet, but it was okay with a standard manual chair.

Toilets

The toilet was plenty big enough but there were several things that irritated me. First, the seat was dirty, so I had to clean it. Just as well I did, as in doing so, I discovered that it was barely attached and moved very easily from side to side. If I'd have discovered that by sitting on it, I would have hurt my back. The toilet paper is one of those where you pull it out piece by piece through a tiny hole. Only the back one had paper poking out but that one was very difficult to access whilst sitting on a moving seat. Second time, I got the paper out first, but going for a wee should require that level of planning. The sink was okay but the soap squirted over hands and into my lap. The hand dryer is on the opposite wall and quite high up so that water dripped down my arms whilst trying to dry my hands. They could have made it much better with thought.

Staff

The waitress was lovely and so helpful. She listened properly when I explained my allergy and then gave us relevant advice as we ordered. She also helped us out with information about the pier, which had barriers up and how we could access it.
