Not fully accessible, but lots of help
We weren't expecting much of this, or much accessibility, but were pleasantly surprised.
There were many blue badge spaces by the welcome centre. We did discover some on level with the castle when we got up there, but there were no signs to them that we saw.
The welcomer was very welcoming, helpful and informative, telling us the best route to take in my power chair.
The route up the hill was steep, but my chair managed it ok.
The cafe was accessible with wide doors and the really helpful National Trust provided adaptive cutlery. (And the food was lovely!)
I was surprised to be able to get in any of the castle, but the ground floor had a ramp at the front door and level access via the cafe at the rear. The doors were wide, as were the walkways. All staff were attentive, proactive and helpful in explaining the best way to go.
Upstairs was only accessed by stairs (46 the sign said), but there was a video available to watch downstairs.
The way to the walled garden was very steep downhill and when we got there there were steps down to the various terraces and not really a good view point to see them.
The rest of the grounds were beautiful and the views from the front over to Llandudno were spectacular on a sunny day.
The toilet I used at the entrance was spacious and spotlessly clean - and the red cord reached the floor!
All in all, if you've got membership it's worth a visit and everyone was as helpful as possible.
