Overview

What a treat, proberbly the best carvery we have had in years. The young chef, Max, is going places, so go and visit as soon as you can. The Inn stands across from open fields after a drive through the outskirts of Bromsgrove, and looks pleasant enough, (photo 1) although a lot of the dull uninspiring Dark Grey paintwork, but it looks in good order, maintained well, and tidy all around the Inn. There is a large car park for you, and you can park up close enough to the entrance (photo 2) It is on the level here, and stays level as you go past the outdoor seating area (3) reasonable easy to got along, but in the warmer weather, you will need to squeeze through, and past that smoking area. This approach will take you into the bar lounge, quite small, nothing outstanding (photo 4) but it is very clean and in good order. The entrance into the lounge and toilets are clearly signed, with a push/pull door to get through (photo 5) But be aware, if you cannot walk without your chair, then there is a step to get up, to get to toilets or to the restaurant, and then a step to get down again, so no use to you if you have to stay in your wheelchair, but this seems to be the way most dinners arrive. If you have parked near main entrance, then you can reach the disabled entrance into the restaurant by being pushed along for a few yards alongside the Inn along the main lane (photo 6) and through the gap at far end to the right, easy enough this way and on the level with just a slight slope to reach side entrance to your right. The best way though when arriving for you, is to drive into main car park and just keep on going through the car park and go round the corners to your left to the rear of the Inn, and you will find two disabled bays (photo 7) although you can park as close to these bays anyway. Don’t let the steps worry you, the entrance you need is at the far end next to The Nailers Arms sign. There is a slight slope upwards, but no real problem, and the entrance is just to the left, with a pull handled doorway. It’s on the level as you enter the very pleasant, very clean, spacious enough and nice looking restaurant (photo 8) and a wheelchair can be taken along to your booked table (photo 9) and we strongly recommend you book well in advance, it’s a popular Inn as the carvery is so good during the afternoon. Just tell them on the booking form that you have a wheelchair, and they will take good care of you. All the staff are very pleasant and will show you to the Carvery and there is a good choice available (photo 10) and the young chef, Max, will offer you a choice of meats to start filling your plate up. Max is an excellent chef (his photo 11) very capable but a little shy, but he prepares and cooks his food very nicely, the meat was so tender and brown, not this red rare meats that many chefs seem determined to get you down with food poisoning with, it just fell apart on our fork, beautiful. All the veg was so nicely cooked as well, it looked good to start with (photo 12) and you will be tempted to overload your plate, but my, is it worth it. Many thanks to you chef, keep this standard up and you will go far, you have a great future waiting for you. The disabled toilet is in the main restaurant, in the far corner on a little passage, but it is rather cluttered and you may not get your wheelchair along it and certainly will not manage to turn it to get into the actual toilet itself, but if you can manage a few steps you will be ok. I would suggest management look into these thoughts and bear in mind the disabled. The toilet itself has enough room for a chair to spin and it was quite clean and no offensive smells, so well done. As we said, we were more than satisfied with our meal, we have dined in 5 and 6 star establishments, and reviewed many for you all, and this meal was in line with many of those, so we recommend you trying this Inn out for yourselves. OUR FINAL THOUGHTS If you love your roast, then this is a MUST. Beautifully prepared, presented well and very nicely cooked, AND HOT. especially as we were one of the first to arrive, at 12.00 am when they open.

Transport & Parking

3

The Inn was a shortish drive on the outskirts of Bromsgrove, reasonably close to the M5 and M42 to make your journey worth while. A large car park allows you to park easily enough, with two disabled bays available if you drive all the way round the car park to the far end

Access

3.5

If you park in the disabled bays or close to them, there is only a slight uphill push to get to the disabled entrance for the restaurant, with a pull handle door, then it is Easy enough inside the main restaurant and no steps to hinder you. There are only a few areas to place your wheelchair at tables, so we recommend booking in advance and let them know you have to arrive with a wheelchair.

Toilets

2

As it is difficult to allow wheelchair to move along the narrow passage to reach the toilet as it was quite littered with bits and pieces, we can only offer low marks at this time, hoping management will bear our thoughts in mind here. The toilet itself was ok though, large enough for chair to spin, clean and tidy.

Staff

An excellent staff, very friendly and helpful, hardworking, and will take care of all your needs. They seem to get along well together, and the atmosphere was very good.
