A local cafe that welcomes and embraces all
The Open Door is a Community Resource based in Morningside Road in the South West of Edinburgh the near the famous old Morningside Clock. The Open Door is on the northbound side of Morniningside Road next to the Bank of Scotland. The cafe is on street level with no ramps or steps, there is a lower meeting room, utilised by the local community council, surgeries for national MP and MSP, local literary and art groups singing groups and other local activities, access to the lower is via stair lift. The Door offers opportunities for people in the Morningside and surrounding areas to meet and chat and even reminisce. There is ample parking available, plus excellent bus provision. On offer to regulars and anyone passing by is a menu range that is prepared and made in house. There are hot and cold foods, drinks with a selection of home made tray bakes available 5 days a week. It’s home made food, simple and straight to the point and that’s what those popping in say. Supporting and promoting the community who are most in need is there prime role to those who need it, but the Door has become a broader platform than this over its 36 years. As so often the case, it’s small but effective resources like the Door that often are the first places people call on for help.
