Wonderful Pub, Awesome Food
I found this wee gem of a pub after it was recommended to me by the guy who made my wheelchair. We'd popped into the workshop as my chair was having a few issues, I as usual was hungry so he said try this place. After negotiating the plough roundabout (hell on earth basically) I was so happy so see this place. It's set on the canal with two large outside eating areas. It was a typical British day so inside it would need to be.
The car park was a bit snug, you need to remember to register your car reg at the bar or it could be very costly (it's a public car park).
Inside had a very snug cosy feel, plenty tables, though many of them had been reserved - always a good sign, people must love eating there and I found out why. This is no average chain pub serving ping ping food, this has soul and taste.
The menu was a little Londonish and prices were a bit more expensive than I'm used to (I'm a Scottish country bumpkin), but hey we're on holiday. Both dad and I were drawn to the salmon with winter greens and a creamy dill sauce. I added a Pepsi (only because they don't serve Coca Cola?!?) and dad a local beer.
When it arrived OMG it was so yummy. the salmon was perfectly cooked came with crispy skin, wilted kale and a potato/leek cake accompanied by a wee mini pan of sauce.
I spied a sign that said all toilets upstairs but could only see stairs. Ready for a fight I asked where the disabled loo was, the waitress said upstairs but I'll show you were the lift is - score! In the corner was a wee platform lift. The toilet was ok, shame they had put a wooden baby changer in instead of the fold down version.
Would definitely be back!
