Live Music at the architectural beautiful Piece Hall, Halifax.

Dating from1779 , The Piece Hall is a Grade 1 listed gem of Georgian architecture , originally a cloth hall trading woollen woven fabric . During the summer months it’s an outdoor music venue. Been an amputee, I drove my auto vehicle to Halifax and parked easily with only a short push (over cobbles in places , not the best if like myself you have small front wheels on your chair) . Be warned Halifax is on the hilly side so if you’re driving you either need to park very close bye or get dropped off on the gradient level with the entrance . Once tickets have been checked your met by the helpers , who are all super bubbly and helpful , shown to are seats , we were told where the accessible toilets were and to ask if needed drinks from the bar , while we just chilled in probably the best seats in the house. I didn’t but if you needed the loo there was someone near bye to help if needed. I’ve seen countless bands over the years and never seen this …a lovely happy looking girl was dancing to the band whilst doing sign to a group at the front , must have been a great experience for them, hopefully a more regular sight. Halifax has good train bus and coach services , stations all been a few minutes away , also a Premier inn real close if you’re fancying more after the gig , or just don’t fancy the journey home. Echo and the Bunnymen brilliant as ever. Brilliantly atmospheric venue , two brilliants on one line, off course i enjoyed it … Ok the ramps up to merch stand and viewing platform maybe a little steep if you’re proud (stubbon) and hate been helped , the cobbles outside are challenging , Halifax could possibly be twinned with San Francisco . So what , great night .

    The Piece Hall

The Piece Hall is approximately 10 minutes walk from Halifax bus station, on a slope. Some entrances are cobbled but the surface has at least been worn smooth over time. Shops are located in a square around a central courtyard, which has steps and a ramp to compensate for the slope. The path encircling the courtyard on the shop fronts on the ground floor has a step up to it, except at the entrance to the hall, where it is levelled out. The path on other floors is level. Some shops have a step into them, but most just have a small ridge. Depending on the size of the unit, they may be tight to navigate around. There are multiple lifts, some of which are tighter to move around than others. There are decent disabled bathrooms but no changing space. Most staff are friendly.
