    The Rose of Hungerford

    About

"... MORE THAN JUST A TRIP BOAT..."The Rose is a 55’ wide beam boat that offers private charters and regular public trips along the canal for up to 50 people of all ages, able bodied and disabled. The trips vary in length and give guests the chance to enjoy a slow and relaxing view of the canal, and all it has to offer, as well as going through a few locks. Large glass sliding windows open on warm days, but efficient central heating makes her comfortable and cosy when it’s a bit chilly. The Rose has a fully equipped galley and licensed bar, and can offer hot and cold drinks and snacks; charter trips can be catered or self-catered. The boat has an electric wheelchair lift. The Rose carries roughly 6000 passengers a year and contributes £40,000 to the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust, which led the restoration of this important canal. Every penny raised by The Rose goes directly to the Trust where it supports their work, in particular protecting the canal’s historical assets. These include the last-remaining wharf warehouse at Devizes (housing our Canal Museum), the wharfside buildings in places such as Newbury, Aldermaston and Bradford-on-Avon, and the world's only remaining operational steam-driven water pumping station at Crofton, which is presently under restoration. The Rose is delighted to be part of The Great West Way. The Kennet and Avon Canal Trust is a registered charity
