In a spectacular location opposite the harbour in the fishing village of Anstruther, in the East Neuk of Fife, we are a Nationally-styled Museum, telling the story of the Scottish fishing industry, its boats, harbours and communities.

Accessibility

Their is a ramp with handrails to the museum entrance. The museum is across 2 floors with ramp access throughout. There are some areas where the ramp could be considered steep or the doorways narrow. There is an induction loop. All of our labels are sans serif font at least 14pt. Our temporary exhibition often has large print labels.

Accessible Performances

The museum is slowly improving its interpretation so that it is more accessible. Our labels are sans serif, a minimum of 14pt and are black on off white.

Awards List

Visit Scotland 4*. Green Tourism Bronze Award. Dementia Friendly Society for the Interpretation of Britain's Heritage presented the Museum with an award for ‘Access for Visitors with Disabilities’, in recognition of the major ramping projects 1991 - 1997. Martyn Heighton Award for Excellence in Conservation 2020 National Historic Ships

The museum has one accessible toilet off of the museum shop and there is a changing table in the lockable unisex toilets to the right as you go into gallery 1. There are other toilet facilities off of the museum shop, gallery 1 and gallery 7.

Dogs can be exercised off of their lead on the beach opposite the museum and Bankie park a large grass area 200 meters (2 minutes) up the road to the side of the museum.
