Comfortable pub with superb food and really good access
Visit date:
This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Wheelchair
Overview
The pub is completely accessible - ramped access from car park to front door, smooth floors and no internal steps. Plenty of space to manoeuvre a wheelchair between tables. Staff helpfully seated me in an area where I could store my wheelchair and have easy access to the accessible loo. Only issue was the front door - a bit heavy and cumbersome for wheelchair user or carer.
Transport & Parking
Although buses pass down the main road, not sure how close by they stop. We drove - there are two disabled spaces in the car park. The main car park gets busy - there is an overflow car park but it's at the top of a steep slope.
Access
The ramp to the front door is easily negotiated although theres a slight ridge at the bottom as you get onto it (not a big issue, just need to be careful if walking). The doors a bit heavy so help may be needed. Once inside there are no internal steps (there's a small seating area which has steps but this is off to one side and not part of the main bar/restaurant area).
Toilets
There's a great accessible loo to the rear. Sadly it's not signposted - I've been here before and didn't know it was there! Has all necessary grab rails and alarm cord. Clean.
Staff
Staff seated us to rear to be near to loo, at our request - they were very helpful when we booked.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
A sign indicating the location of the accessible loo would be very helpful. Highly recommended for ambience and food.
