Overview

I had contacted the hotel before booking, to enquire about an accessible room etc. The person dealing with the enquires was extremely helpful . Sending photos of the room and what they could provide in way of equipment. Unfortunately by the time we went to stay this person had left. Access to the hotel is up a ramp which is next to the disabled parking bay. The ramp takes toy across the decking area which has plenty of tables, chairs, and umbrellas. To the main entrance . There are no steps just open the door and your straight into reception. Our room was the first one on the right down a corridor. The receptionist held open the door to the corridor making it easy for us to get to our room. The door to the bedroom is extremely heavy and we did struggle getting the wheelchair in and out while trying to open the door. We did put this in writing to the hotel management who said they would discuss with the owners. There was plenty of room in the bedroom for my wheelchair. The bathroom isn’t a wet room ,it has a shower cubicle with a small step over about an inch . The hotel had provided a portable shower seat with arms and portable grab rails at various points in the shower. It was a bit of a tight squeeze in the shower but I managed well enough. They also provided a toilet seat riser which again had arms . The sink had leavers to operate the taps again a good idea. Although the bathroom wasn’t big I managed. But as there was a step of about 3 inches to get into the bathroom the wheelchair stayed outside by the bathroom door. This wasn’t a problem for me although I have very limited mobility. I could manage both the step into the bathroom and shower with the use of my special crutches and assistance from my husband to get up the step into the bathroom. Once in the bathroom I am able to take a few steps to the toilet, sink and shower. The bedroom had a tv plus tea, coffee, biscuits, kettle. Access to the bar and restaurant was all on one level with plenty of room for me to get about in my wheelchair. Breakfast was self service and a selection of continental and cooked on offer. The breakfast was good. Staff were helpful . We would stay again. As it’s easy to get to many nice towns, villages places of interest.

Transport & Parking

Blue badge parking right next to the ramp to access the hotel. We did notice a bus stop over the road. But as we had travelled by car didn’t need to use public transport.

Access

Access was very good to the hotel , the on,y th8ng we did point out was the heavy bedroom door. I’m not sure many disabled guests would manage it. And of course there was the step up into the bathroom, which means the wheelchair doesn’t go into the bathroom. But depending on your disability this might not be an issue. I managed ok and I have limited mobility. I just had help from my husband and used my special crutches .

Toilets

See note above about the toilet in the bedroom. They did have a notice in the restaurant saying they have accessible toilets but we didn’t see them .

Staff

Staff were very helpful. The person who contacted me when I enquired about an accessible room was so helpful. Sending lots of photos taken at different angles of the bedroom, bathroom , the steps in the bathroom and the equipment they could offer, she explained about access to the rest of the hotel. To ensure everything would meet my needs.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

There were quite some bottles of hand sanitizer at various points around the hotel. Room a were only serviced during your stay if requested.
