    The Storehouse

    Dingwall

    Great food, poor access

    2

    Date of visit: September 2026

I am a disabled person. I have experience of challenges around: accessing toilets and moving around.

I use or have experience of: wheelchair

The toilet doesn't look too bad in this photo but it has its problems

    Overall Rating

    Poor

Before I was in a wheelchair, the Storehouse was great. Great food, great views, a good atmosphere and I rated it 5 stars on TripAdvisor. Sadly, I feel I have to slash that rating after my most recent visit as a wheelchair user. The food is still good... pizzas, sausage and mash and fish and chips were all great, although my Dad's burger was overcooked (read burnt to a crisp). They have a queueing system in that you order your food before being allocated a table by the staff. However, it's possible to bypass it if you inform the staff of any mobility issues whereby they'll sort a table before a companion can go up to order. And therein lies the big problem with The Storehouse... it's not catered for independent wheelchair users. You need someone with you to get over door lips and slightly raised floor levels. We didn't even try to access the porch or outdoor seating but there were still several instances where I needed help. There were other issues which I'll discuss in the relevant sections of the review. In short... great food, friendly staff but unfortunately quite lacking in accessibility.

    Disabled Access In and Around

    Poor

There is a large lip at the main door which I almost toppled over at trying to wheel myself over. Inside there are slightly raised floor levels which are also quite difficult to cross without help. We didn't even try to go into the outdoor seating area.

    Parking & Transport

    Bad

I travelled to this place by personal vehicle

The car park is gravelled, even at the disabled bays of which there are only two, which makes it difficult to traverse in a wheelchair. There are paved paths immediately outside the building itself.

    Accessible facilities: Dedicated on-site parking

    Accessible Toilets

    Bad

There is no dedicated accessible toilet. The single cubicle in the Gents is fitted with grab-rails but there is no rail or handle on the door and I had difficulty pulling it closed using just the lock. The floorspace is a bit smaller than ideal which meant I couldn't manoeuvre myself round properly to reach it. I assume it's the same in the Ladies.

    Staff

    Good

The staff were friendly, allowing us to sit before going to order which was helpful.
