Lovely level access restaurant and bar, although quick note though is that they don’t really have an accessible toilet. Dogs are allowed in the bar area.

    Disabled Access In and Around

To enter this venue, it is level access and straight through to the restaurant. When we visited the door to enter the venue was open, so no one had to open it for me. The doors have to be manually opened though and do look quite heavy to open. The restaurant is very spacious inside, and all tables are at a perfect height for wheelchair users. I can imagine the conservatory area can get quite warm in the summer months, but it does provide nice natural lighting. We had to sit in the bar area because I had my dog with me, but there is a step down into the bar area. Luckily, I had my little ramps in the car with me, although I would recommend the venue to have ramps on site as they don’t cost a lot of money and it opens your business up to more customers. It was only one step so my ramp wasn’t steep. There was a door leading into the bar area from where we parked my car and we asked a staff member if it opens, they said it does, however it is a narrow door, so they don’t say that is an accessible option into the bar because some wheelchairs may not fit through the door. My wheelchair would have fit through it, but I needed to go take photos of the toilets. The bar area is a bit of a tighter area to sit in, I could only really sit in one area with my ventilator on my wheelchair, but we were only people sitting here when we visited. There is an upper level of the bar area that has two steps to get up to, my ramps wouldn’t manage up to this area. They have a bar menu for the area where we were sitting, but I think because we had to sit here with my dog, and they weren’t busy, they did offer us the full menu. There are two outdoor seating areas at this venue. We didn’t sit outside during our visit, but they looked quite spacious, and some of the tables were accessible for wheelchair users.

Accessible facilities: Step-free entrance, Step-free access to most areas

    Parking & Transport

There are two car parks for The Upper Largo. One is across the road from the venue and there are some spaces just outside of the venue, there’s not a lot of spaces. My carer went into the venue and asked a staff member if we could park at the edge of the car park and they said as long as we weren’t blocking an entrance it would be fine. If there wasn’t any parking spaces beside the venue though, there is plenty of space to drop someone off and then park across the road. I am not from this area so I cannot comment on any of the public transport, but the venue is a little bit in the middle of nowhere so I can’t imagine there is a lot of public transport nearby.

Accessible facilities: Dedicated on-site parking, Drop-off or pick up point

    Accessible Toilets

Within the venue there is only a standard female and male toilet. I can only comment on the female toilet because I had a quick look, and there are 2 cubicles in the female toilet. There are grab rails in the cubicles though, so if you are able to walk a short distance to the toilet then you would be able to use this toilet. I’ve included photo within this review of the toilets, so people are able to see if they are accessible for them.

    Excellent

During our visit the staff members we interacted with were really friendly and helpful with us needing to use my ramp to get into the bar area.

    Additional Information

It was great to see many small portions of food available on the bar and restaurant menu.
