This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Walking Aid, Wheelchair, Learning Disability

Overview

I use this shopping centre every week sometimes multiple times a week and never had any complaints with access issues Or when i have required assistance.

Transport & Parking

5

There are numerous disabled parking bays around every entrance to the shopping centre. You do not have to pay if using disabled bay with a blue badge. It is close to the train-station it does require a bus journey, you can use a disabled buss pass or a concessionaire £1ticket. There is also local links via buses right outside the entrance to shopping centre.

Access

5

There are disabled button press doors and it has some new automated doors being installed. There are seats every few feet up the centre of the shopping centre so people can rest when required. In shops with an upstairs there are lifts inside the shops and escalators. There is a customer services area that is next to the disabled toilets. They have normal toilets, baby changing room there also. There is a seated area and a manned desk, where you can hire mobility scooters to use on visit. Two special thing in this area is a charging box where u can lock phone to charge whilst shopping. The second thing that i have not seen anywhere else is a quiet room. This is used for privacy for the use of prayers, baby feeding, to calm down If having issues or feelings of being overwhelmed.

Toilets

5

There are three spacious disabled access toilets. They are being cleaned numerous times a day. There is one that has a door that has a press button to open and inside press buttons to open and close/lock door. Could fit multiple people aswell as wheelchair. Has numerous hand rails to use if required.

Staff

4

Most staff have been extremely pleasant and more than helpful especially when needed extra help. Like in the customer service area or in certain shops where u do not have to queue in normal queue but go to the end lowered counter and next available assistant will comes to you. There are security walking around all the time who offer help if required, the general staff ie cleaners etc all have walkie talkies to be able to get aid for you from customer services or security. However every now and then you meet a staff member with a bad attitude, but thats not normally related to disability but to a person being unprofessional.
