I am a disabled person. I have experience of challenges around: a hidden impairment, accessing toilets and moving around.

Excellent

Dog friendly level access restaurant in the city centre of Dundee with an excellent rustic cowboy barn theme. Delicious cocktails and food. There were some fun themed cocktails and I had the bathtub one which was delicious. I also had the nacho browns which were in the tapas section of the menu, these were also delicious. You can book to play a game of darts and there are lots of different deals that they offer. More of the deals are catered to students but some aren’t.

Disabled Access In and Around

Excellent

It is level access to get into this restaurant but you manually have to open the doors to enter. It was a warm day when we visited so the doors were already open but I can imagine they would be quite heavy and someone would struggle if they were on their own and don’t have much upper strength. I would suggest having a bell outside for someone to alert staff that they need help to open the door, just like a doorbell system. When you go into the venue you first come into the bar area and that is where we met a staff member to check our reservation. Most of the tables in this area are quite high but if you have a wheelchair that rises like I do you would not have an issue. There are a couple of booth tables that are at standard wheelchair height and that you could sit at the end of in a wheelchair, there’s also wheelchair height tables that have a moveable bench for a wheelchair user to sit at. The bar is at a standard bar height. In the restaurant area most of the tables are at wheelchair height but there are a few that are higher. I booked our table and I would definitely recommend doing this so you are able to get an accessible table, it was really easy to book a table through their website. We were sat in a little area to the side but I sat at the end of the table because there wasn’t any room at either side of the table. I think if all tables were occupied then it would be a bit tight at the table we were at because there was a table at the window beside us but there wasn’t anyone at this table when we were there. I could easily get into the table that we were sitting at because there were no legs in the way and the menus we lightweight to hold.

Due to being situated in the city centre of Dundee there are lots of different transport options to get to this venue. I visited by car and I parked in one of the many council car parks nearby, these car parks range between a 5 minute to a 10 minute walk in all directions and are free of charge for blue badge holders. You can’t really park right outside the restaurant but there are double yellow lines so you would be able to drop someone off right outside and then go park somewhere. There are buses that come from all over Angus and Dundee because it is the city centre, plus the bus station and train station is around a 10 minute walk away. I am not sure where all the EV charging ports are in Dundee but on a separate visit to Dundee I saw a disabled parking EV spot in the Gellatly Street multi story council car park, and to park here for free you just need to press the help button at the barrier as you are leaving and hold up your blue badge to the camera.

Accessible Toilets

Good

The standard toilets were down a flight of stairs but the disabled toilet was on the level of the restaurant. I didn’t get a good photo of the signage on the disabled toilet door but it was difficult to spot at first as it was quite small. Inside I would say the disabled toilet doesn’t have a lot of room to move around, although if you move the bin away from the side of the toilet you would have no problem transferring from the right-hand side of the toilet. I’d say if you have a small wheelchair that there would be room to have someone in with you if you need help but, not a lot. The disabled toilet was clean though, the emergency red cord feel right to the floor and the sink was at a good height for someone in a wheelchair.

Good

When we arrived the staff were very friendly and helpful at moving a seat at the table. Although our server did nearly spill my cocktail but that was maybe because it was in a bathtub (see image within review), he did get my boyfriends order wrong so he had to wait longer for his and we had to ask for cutlery and napkins. I visited this venue for a second time and the accessible toilet was out of order. The staff phoned on day of my visit to make sure I was still okay to visit.
