Overview
Attempted to visit the hotel for drinks but could not see any disabled access signs and there are two/three steps up to the front door. On contacting the hotel the next day they advised you could ask for a ramp to be put in place on arrival. As you would only be able to do this if someone was with you I have asked that they put a doorbell and sign advising how to gain access for those with mobility issues. The real issue is that when I then asked what their disabled toilet facilities are, they informed me that there is no disabled toilet at all. The reason being that Tudor House is a listed building but I have pointed out that other similar venues have made an attempt at reasonable adjustments. Management has informed me they will now discuss with planning, a real afterthought when a great deal of money was spent on refurbishing the hotel. An update at May/June 2022 is that the hotel now has a doorbell and sign explaining how to gain access. Further update March 2025 - in a powered wheelchair the ramp provided on request is too steep and potentially dangerous. I have not had any contact from management advising if any change has been made to provide an accessible toilet.
