Built on the site of one of the largest Roman cities in Britain, Verulamium Museum is filled with ancient treasures and some of the finest mosaics outside of the Mediterranean. Visitors can immerse themselves in recreated Roman rooms and admire the craftsmanship of the intricate large-scale mosaics on display. You can also see recent discoveries such as the Sandridge Hoard, a collection of 159 Roman gold coins. In addition to hands-on discovery areas for younger visitors, the museum also provides a selection of free activity sheets for children, an opportunity for object handling and dressing up clothes available on weekends and school holidays.

St Albans new accessible museum opened 8 June 2018, replacing the old museum which was only accessible on the ground floor.

Toilets features at Verulamium Museum

The accessible toilet is located in the basement. The door opens outwards and is locked by a locking handle. The width of the accessible toilet door is 86cm. The dimensions of the accessible toilet are 152cm x 280cm. There is a lateral transfer space, as you face the toilet, the transfer space is on the left. The lateral transfer space is 85cm and there is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.

A designated accessible toilet designed for wheelchair users and others with visible and non-visible accessibility requirements is available within the main public areas.
