Overall Rating
Excellent
Weigh To Go is a gorgeous local shop where "no plastic" is the rule. Bring your own containers, weigh them, get a clean scoop, fill them up and off you go. The shop boasts one of the largest collections of hot sauces in Edinburgh. You can buy store cupboard staples - grains, pasta, rice, cereal, herbs and spices, dried fruits, tinned foods, dairy (and vegan options), drinks, fresh eggs, oils, coffee beans (they will grind them to your preference), freshly ground peanut butter and choc and sweeties. A lovely range of Palestinian products too. Out the back is a great range of household cleaning supplies and also personal hygiene products - the soaps make great gifts. I really love coming here and having a wee blether with Lucy, Robert or the fab assistants. They are all so friendly and helpful and will help you reach anything or refill (I almost always need a help grinding coffee and refilling my shampoo). ALLERGIES - peanuts are being ground to go, so do be careful. Dogs also welcome. My dog loves going in for some attention and to help hoover up any food that might have been dropped by customers. Lucy, who owns the shop, is really keen to stock local or Scottish products, and a few specialty products (yum dates and slices from Palestine, and gluten free vegemite!). Lucy will also welcome in Girl Guiding groups and any community groups that might want to learn about her shop or story as an eco entrepreneur. Weigh To Go has a special place in the community and is so much more than just a shop.
Disabled Access In and Around
Excellent
The front door is often open. There are lots of windows at the front to get attention if you struggle with the door. There is also a very helpful community notice board at the front door. Lucy said many wheelchair using customers often shop here. The shop is not too spacious, but that is part of its charm. The store keeper will be happy to help. I go here with a mindset of not rushing. It makes for a feel good shopping experience. There is a dropped counter.
Accessible facilities: Single-level venue, Step-free entrance
Parking & Transport
Excellent
I travelled to this place by walk or wheel
It is Leith Walk. Parking is always hit or miss around here. Balfour Street tram stop is pretty close and buses stop about 30 meters away.
Accessible facilities: Public or on street parking
Accessible Toilets
No toilet - I would not expect one in a shop like this.
Staff
Excellent
You will be hard pressed to find more helpful friendly staff.
