Inspire West Bridgford Library is a welcoming place to read, learn, and enjoy culture. It is free to join and gives access to a range of services.

Browse and borrow books, use a PC or Wi-Fi, research family history, or simply relax in our refreshment areas. Join in regular events—perfect for meeting new people and trying activities like crafting, colouring, reading groups, and children’s sessions.

Adult Learning courses offer a friendly environment to gain new skills or explore a hobby just for fun. Experience cultural events close to home such as author talks, family concerts and theatre, workshops, and more—all in a welcoming and accessible space right in your local community.

Disabled Access at West Bridgford Library (Inspire)

The public car park next door is within 50 metres of the main entrance and can be used to drop off and pick up. We have 1 main entrance to the library, at the front of the building which is step free and can be accessed via a ramp on either side. Automatic doors are in operation as you enter the building. Service disruptions including any problems with the lift are posted here: https://www.inspireculture.org.uk/service-disruptions/ Our café area is upstairs and can be accessed via the lift. The area itself has tables and chairs which can be moved if needed to provide further space.

There is a main bus stop on the road, approximately 50 metres from the main entrance and is accessible to wheelchair users. The town centre of West Bridgford is pedestrianised, except for buses and is also accessible to disabled travellers with dropped curbs and safe crossing points. NCT website has details of regular buses to West Bridgford including the 5, 5a, 6, 7 and 8 which all go via the Train Station and West Bridgford. E-audio titles for both adults and children can be borrowed for free via a website or app (with accessibility features including increased font size and dyslexic-friendly fonts) with a library card. Accessible services at West Bridgford Library (Inspire)

Rushcliffe Shopmobility, is based round the side of the library, and is open Monday, Wednesday and Saturday between 10am and 2pm. Details can be found here: https://www.rushcliffe.gov.uk/community-and-living/advice-and-support/shopmobility/ We have evac mats in place and trained staff in the event of a fire and also designated refuge areas suitable for wheelchair users. Disability awareness or equality training is provided for all staff, ideally at induction and refreshed regularly, particularly for customer-facing roles. Training should include practical advice on providing a welcoming and inclusive experience for disabled customers. We are accredited as a Carer Friendly organisation by Nottingham Carers Association. We are a Dementia Friendly organisation. We are accredited as an Age Friendly organisation. We hold Investors in Diversity Silver accreditation. During our events calendar throughout the year, we do offer relaxed cinema screenings in the library, as well as Dementia friendly screenings. These options usually have an interval and refreshments, as well as gentle lighting and a more flexible experience, allowing for talking etc. The screenings are held on the ground floor in the main area of the library, or gallery, near the toilets and wheelchair accessible.
