This wheelchair accessible maze is perfect for a fun day trip with family or friends of all ages. The Wistow Maze is currently shaped as the famous detective, Sherlock Holmes, in celebration of the novels 130th anniversary. The maze includes 12 detective themed hidden clues to tackle whilst you explore the maze.
Disabled Access In and Around
Good
Some paths within the maze were too small for a wheelchair to fit. Therefore, there were marked routes within the maze for wheelchair access with wider paths. Due to the maze being grown of maize and sunflowers, certain areas of the path were muddy and covered in trampled flowers. This may cause difficulties for wheelchairs users.
Parking & Transport
Excellent
The venue had disabled parking closest to the café as well as directly next to the maze entrance. The disabled facilities were clearly marked and staff were dotted around to help out if needed.
Accessible Toilets
Excellent
The toilets were located in a small cabin with stairs and a ramp. Very easy access.
Staff
Excellent
There were staff dotted around the venue to offer help and lead activities. In the café, the staff were lovely and the introduction to the maze quiz was easy to understand. Overall, the staff were excellent.
Additional Information
In terms of pricing, you got a lot for your money. You can spend as long as you like in the maze and can come back at any point throughout the day once you got your ticket. There were also lots of small games and activities just outside the entrance to the maze which would be perfect for small children.
