Choosing to hire the mobility scooter enabled me to keep up with my friend, keep pain minimal and enjoy the zoo. Staff were helpful and welcoming, the terrain was negotiable and I was able to access everywhere. Seeing the animals kept in such clean, spacious enclosures was wonderful and the environmental ethos of the zoo was admirable.
Disabled Access In and Around
Good
There are some bumpy sections and steep paths especially through the two tunnels which split the zoo with the road. However, they were negotiable with the mobility scooter. Hire of the scooter is £10 for the day plus a £50 deposit so you need to be mindful of this. There is a lift to the higher section of the tiger enclosure. No access is available to scooters to the lemurs. There are lots of seats and ramps to the cafes.

The nearest London Underground stations are at least 15 minutes walk away. Buses and taxis are options.
