Edinburgh's longest-running golf fundraiser is back!

One of Edinburgh’s longest-running charity sporting fundraising events is preparing to celebrate a remarkable milestone this September as the annual World Short Hole Golf Pairs Championship marks its 25th Anniversary.

Taking place on Friday 4 September 2026 at Bruntsfield Links at The Meadows, the Championship has become a much-loved fixture in Edinburgh’s community calendar, bringing people together for a relaxed afternoon of friendly competition, fundraising and community spirit in support of three deserving charities.

For the past 25 years, the Championship has welcomed well over 2,500 participants and raised more than £100,000 for charity, becoming one of Edinburgh’s best-known community golf fundraising events.

We're delighted that this year’s Championship is supporting our small but mighty charity for another year, along with PTSD UK and St Catharine’s Homeless Project, both also Edinburgh-based charities.

Organisers of the World Short Hole Golf Pairs Championship are keen to stress that the event is not just for experienced golfers - it's designed to be enjoyed by everyone, from experienced golfers to complete beginners looking for a fun afternoon with friends, family or work colleagues.

Around 100 participants take part each year, with a variety of competitions and prizes throughout the day, including awards for women’s teams and the ever-popular Hickory Competition, celebrating golf’s rich heritage with traditional wooden-shafted clubs.

To celebrate the Championship’s 25th Anniversary, organisers have also introduced a new Corporate Team Entry, giving local businesses the opportunity to enter a team while receiving recognition on the Championship website throughout the following year.
