Step back in time and explore the Victorian streets of Abbey House Museum during a fun family friendly day out. Our upstairs Childhood Galleries feature toys from Victorian trains sets and doll's houses through to modern classics such as Barbie and Mr Tumble. Our temporary exhibition and community galleries feature a changing programme on wide a range of themes. We run children's activities every school holiday and a range of adult talks and workshops throughout the year. Combine with a visit to Kirkstall Abbey which just across the road where you will find a fascinating ruin, Visitor Centre and cafe.Accessibility
The entrance has a push button automatic opening outwards with a clear space of 87cm. The galleries are accessible for a wide range of different access needs and abilities. Please note that there are cobbled streets and some narrow spaces in the Victorian streets. Seating is available. The lift to the second floor is available through the Victorian street which has a capacity for one wheelchair at a time. There is an accessible toilet and Changing Places Toilet in main entrance foyer. A wheelchair is available to borrow on your visit. Entry to the museum is free of charge for carers. An induction loop is in place in entrance foyer.

Toilets
There is an accessible toilet and Changing Places Toilet in the main entrance foyer which are before the paywall and available to the public as well as museum visitors. Facilities in the accessible toilet include an emergency alarm and a fire alarm with a flashing light, the accessible toilet is right hand transfer and is not RADAR key operated. The Changing Places Toilet has a movable and height adjustable medical bed with hoist, slings are not provided. There is a height adjustable sink with remote control. The toilet can be accessed from both sides. There are hand rails for standing changing and a colostomy shelf. The Changing Places Toilet is accessed by RADAR key.
