Overview
We popped into the bookshop for a quick browse. They had a great selection of books, and it was nice to walk around. So, we went downstairs to the café for drinks and cake. We had a great time and felt very welcome.
Transport & Parking
No, not at the place. The nearest disabled parking space is in the square, which is a short walk away.
Access
There are no lifts or ramps. If you use a wheelchair, you can only access the café from the outside. Otherwise, you can access the café from the bookshop via steps. Although there are no ramps, it is easy to move around in the bookshop and in the café. Once you are in each of them all is in the same level. The book areas were clearly labelled and there was a lovely separate room for the children's books. There were also benches to sit on in the bookshop and outside.
Toilets
There is an accessible toilet located downstairs in the café. There is enough space to manoeuvre a wheelchair and also for a carer. However, it was a bit tricky to get into the toilet as the entrance is narrow. There are grab rails. It is not a Changing Places toilet. The toilet was very clean and tidy.
Staff
The staff made us feel welcome. Everyone was very friendly. At the end of our visit, one of the staff from the bookshop came over to say hello and check that we had enough space for our wheelchair-using member. The café staff were also helpful.
