    A useful and welcoming space

I enjoyed a lovely sunny morning in Albert Park and the Visitor Centre with its big glass doors and stained glass windows looked great in the light. It was a weekday in autumn, so it was quiet, but it was still open and felt very welcoming. It makes it much easier to enjoy your outing to the park when you know that there is somewhere accessible to go to the toilet, an inside space where you can sit down without having to buy anything, somewhere that even has sockets. It is even better when that place is clean and nicely decorated.

Wide, flat paths and tactile-marked playground

I visited Albert Park on a frosty Friday morning, which probably contributed to why it felt so peaceful to me. I can easily imagine it to be a favourite destination in warmer weather, as it is spacious and well-kept. Luckily the sun was shining, so I could admire the sundial near the main gates – and it told the right time! The park certainly presents a very tamed side of nature, but it is nature nonetheless, with plenty of trees and green. Sometimes a bit of nature that is easy to get around in is just what you need and we can keep muddy, unpaved paths and overgrown shrubbery for more adventurous days. One thing that stood out to me was the playground near the middle of the park. There is a tactile map of it with Braille labels at the entrance to the playground from the main path and there are tactile markings all around the sand areas in which most of the playground equipment is.
