Overview

We called in on spec en route on holiday and liked it so much that we called in on way home too. There is a separate section of restaurant where you could sit with a dog. The chairs are hard plastic so I needed to take in my own cushion. The roof of this part (not main restaurant) is conservatory-type so in the sun it can get very hot. Food we had first time was so good we had it again - potted shrimps on sourdough toast with salad and home-made fruit tart and custard slice. Restaurant looks out over Morecambe Bay.

Transport & Parking

We drove there. There were some disabled spaces but both times we went they were full, so we went in main carpark which is tarmac. There is also overflow parking, but on gravel. There are dropped curbs to cross the road from carpark onto a short flat path past the disabled spaces to entrance to garden centre shop which leads to restaurant area.

Access

There were no steps and it is all on ground level. There are automatic doors from the outside path into the garden centre shop which leads to restaurant entrance. Aisles in shop were wide enough to get round easily. The doors to the dog-friendly area are also automatic, but not to main restaurant. However, there is a member of staff behind the door to open it as they are there to allocate a table and take you to it.

Toilets

Accessible loo is in the garden centre shop, not far away and well-signed (just ordinary signage). The door was wide and easy for me to open on my own as there is no heavy closure spring on it. Loo was spacious and not cluttered by baby-changing equipment. There was one large bin in the corner next to the loo but there was still space for me to back in on my smallish mobility scooter between it and the loo to do a sideways transfer. Soap, washbasin and handdrier were all handily placed and there was even a mirror at a height I could see into. Loo was very clean and tidy. There is a drop-down rail on one side and a horizontal rail on wall on other. There is room for a carer.

Staff

All the staff we saw were lovely. On both occasions we visited there were several people with wheelchairs or scooters and no one made a big thing of it. Staff bring menus, take orders at the table and bring the food to the table.
