New furbished Opticians. Barnard Castle.

I have experience of challenges around: moving around

The ramp leading from the pavement to the premises is too narrow. The staff have great difficulty in putting it out too as it's so heavy.

Once up the ramp with help faced with a narrow door, requiring help.

Access to the exam room requires being lifted down by one of the staff

Routine eye examination.

Disabled Access In and Around

Bad

The opticians was acquired by Bayfields and refurbished. I am disappointed that the upgrade has not given much thought to accessibility internally and externally.

Parking & Transport

Bad

As I live locally I walked to the appointment. There is however a disabled parking space on the road side for public use.

Staff

Excellent

The staff and my optician could not be more helpful. They have to grapple with a heavy inadequate ramp system to help me gain access to the examination room and premises. The reason I continue to use this optician is because of the professional optician.
