This was a quieter tram stop as it was much further down the line and out from the city centre. It had a very similar layout to those in the city centre though. The stops for either direction were opposite each other with level, step-free access to cross between the two. The main road was uphill from the stop with stairs and a ramp to get up to it. The stops were on elevated parts of the pavement, which meant the pavement was level with the trams once they arrived. There was a small sheltered section but it didn’t have any seating from what I could see. The edges of the stop had painted yellow lines and were also marked with tactile paving. There was additional tactile paving which went in the opposite direction to that marking the edge of the stop. These aligned with the most accessible doorways of the tram when it pulled in. There was a digital board which told you which trams were expected along with approximate wait and arrival times for each one. There was a clear sign with the tram stop name on each end of the raised area and these had bins beneath them too. Once the tram arrived, there was a small gap and lip to board but I found this still manageable with my wheelchair’s castor wheels and didn’t have any problems.

Disabled Access In and Around

Good

As the pavement is raised to be the same height as the tram doorways, there was a small ramp on one side of the tram stop which provided level access to the other tram stop. This wasn’t steep and was manageable to get up and down. On the other end of the stop was the ramp that went up to the main road. It was a fairly long ramp that turned halfway up and went back on itself but that was to make sure it wasn’t too steep. I found I was able to push myself up the ramp okay, but some may find it more difficult and need some assistance if they start to get tired. There is tactile paving to signify both the edge of the platform and the best places to board the tram. There is a small gap between the tram and the pavement when the tram stops, but this wasn’t something I found to be an issue in my wheelchair.
