Popular street food destination
Visit date:
Overview
Borough Market is a popular street food destination, known for its wide variety of fresh delicacies and high-quality ingredients. With its prime location and vibrant atmosphere, it attracts large crowds every day. However, this also means that visitors should be prepared for queues, especially during peak hours.
Transport & Parking
I walked to the market, and it’s just a short distance from London Bridge Station. Public transport is very convenient, and as you get closer, the increasing crowd makes it easy to tell you're approaching the market.
Access
The market has multiple entrances and is step-free to access. Most of the stalls are visible as you walk through, offering a wide variety of food options. There isn’t a clear zoning system, so you’ll need to explore as you go to discover what interests you. Seating is quite limited — there are only a few public benches available for resting or eating, so most people end up enjoying their food while standing along the street. Due to its overwhelming popularity, the market is often very crowded, which can affect the experience for wheelchair users. Navigating through the space and maintaining a clear line of sight can be quite challenging in such busy conditions.
Toilets
Toilets are easy to find by following the signs or asking a staff member — they’re located in a clearly visible area. There is an accessible toilet available, which includes grab rails, a changing place, and ample space for wheelchair users. However, due to the high volume of visitors, the cleanliness is average.
Staff
There are several staff members in green vests throughout the market, readily available to assist visitors. They are very friendly and approachable, always happy to answer any questions.
