Overall Rating
Poor
Located in the car park just outside of Silverburn Shopping Centre and boasting 16 spaces, this is one of the larger EV charging locations in Glasgow but it comes to access it falls into the same trap as many other charging sites.
Disabled Access In and Around
Poor
If you are lucky enough to find it vacant, the first bay is large with hatched markings all the way around it, making manoeuvring with a mobility device much easier. This is of course only helpful if you are able to manage the weight of the charging cables. This bay is not marked as an accessible bay which is a shame as anyone can use it despite it clearly being more suitable for disabled folks. There are no alternative formats in use.
Accessible facilities: Single-level venue, Step-free entrance
Parking & Transport
Poor
I travelled to this place by personal vehicle
The majority of the charging bays at this site are about the width of a standard parking space, which poses a challenge for accessing the chargers and removing a mobility device from your car. There are bollards on either side of each charging terminal. The card reader can be reached from a seated height, but there is little room to move when using a mobility aid. The cables are positioned low on the machine but are heavy and may be difficult to manipulate. The site offers 50 kW CHAdeMO, 180 kW CCS and 50 kW CCS charging, with cables provided for each.
Accessible facilities: Electric Vehicle Charging
Accessible Toilets
There are no toilets near the chargers but Silverburn Shopping Centre has several accessible toilets and a Changing Places toilet.
