Venue DescriptionBristol Old Vic is the longest continuously-running theatre in the UK and following a recent £12million redevelopment project, is now one of the most modern and comfortable with state of the art rehearsal rooms, a dramatically extended forestage and precision-engineered sightlines giving audiences an even more intimate theatrical experience. Our mission is to create pioneering twenty-first century theatre in partnership with the people of our energetic city; inspired by the history and magical design of the most beautiful playhouse in the country. Come and play.
Our Theatre entrance on King Street is now closed. We now invite you to enter the Theatre via our new Stage Door entrance which can be accessed via a small street called ‘Rackhay’ (BS1 4HJ) just off Queen Charlotte Street around the corner from King Street. On entering the building from Rackhay there are 12 steps leading up to the Backstage Bar and Pre Show Box Office. There is also a standard large lift via our Stagedoor entrance for wheelchair users and those with restricted mobility. Just ring the buzzer to enter via Stagedoor. All doors in our current set up are manual, however, staff are on hand to help, so please let them know if you need any assistance. There are allocated wheelchair spaces in the Theatre in the Dress Circle. Please book in advance by phoning 0117 987 7877 and mention any access requirements at this time. Please note that during our redevelopment the only level in the auditorium that is step free is the Dress Circle. There are steps to the Pit and to Upper Circle and Gallery. Once our redevelopment is complete in September 2018 we will have step free access to all levels.
