Originally opening in 1912, the Bristol Hippodrome is one of the most prestigious provincial theatres in the country and has established itself on the touring circuit for major musical productions, plays, opera, ballet, concerts, comedians and shows for children. It also offers a variety of creative learning events and workshops for the community.

Good access but need more toilets

Really good venue for making adjustments to allow disabled visitors and carers access to theatre. I just think they need more than one disabled toilet. Or... need to make it clear the disabled toilet isn’t for everyone.

Good access considering the age of the building

Disabled access is through a side entrance by a side street, this is flat so you can get in with a chair or scooter or the walk is only around 20m from car to seats which is great if you don't use a chair. Disabled toilet is right by back door but at the break you will have to wait as people can't be bothered to queue for the normal toilets so if you don't have a visible disability, be prepared to wait or push! Seats are well spaced to fit a big scooter, with a carer chair next to you. Only issue is the bar is up or down steps, they have an app to order drinks to your seats but we did this and the second order didn't turn up, and this may not be suitable for everybody. Overall I think the hippodrome has good accessibility for the age of the building

Disabled Access at The Bristol Hippodrome

We have a designated Access Entrance at the side of the theatre which leads straight into the Stalls. There is an accessible toilet in this area. There are four wheelchair user positions, plus companion seats, available in the Stalls and two accessible Boxes that can accommodate wheelchair users. We also have seating options for those who can transfer into a theatre seat. Patrons without limited mobility but who require an Essential Carer with them may choose to sit anywhere in the theatre at a discounted rate.
