Not an acsessable or safe venue

The hotel it'self is nice and for most people would be a good fit but as I said in the acsessable room I can't say the same. Upon arrival I discovered the hotel has 3 large steps to entrance which I found difficult to navigate with my bag as there are no handrails. On check in the staff member did the bare minimum without explaining where breakfast would take place or how to get to my room despite being stood on front of him with my white cane, partly sighted pinbadge and disability lanyard. When I finally found my room thanks to a lovely member of the cleaning staff. I discovered there were to solid heavy oak doors between the lift area and my room. There is no way a wheelchair user would be able to acsess tge room independently. The room was lovly in itself and the beds are comfortable. However 3 small issues and 2 safety issues concern me about the room. The minor issues which were more of an inconvenience included no spoons for the in room tea and coffee, a large stain on the floor and towel on the bathroom with black what looked like mascara marks on them. Reception fixed the spoon and towel issues very quickly with no argument. My two big concerns with the room were the missing red emergency cord in the bed bedroom. A call point was in the room but not cord to plug into it for the bed area posing a large health risk of I had fallen. A larger health risk was in the bathroom where I found the red emergency cord which is required to reach the floor tangled and knoted around the grabrail for the toilet. If I had slipped in the shower I would have no way to call for assistance. It was nice to see the bathroom had a toilet seat riser, shower chair and all rails were stable and in working order but the issues and services I faced will not be making me return as the hotel is simply not acsessable or safe for those with disabilities.

Not as bad as previous reviews suggest.

Stayed for one night. Had phoned earlier in week to discuss accessibility and reassured. On arrival my partner went into reception, my conversation with them had been noted. A disabled bay in the car park had been reserved and a member of staff was waiting by the accessible entrance to let me in. Its a shame that there isn't a ramp for the front steps but it would be steep if there was. But access through the rear door was fine for me. Room was brilliant, large and spacious with a good bathroom. Only problem for me was self propelling on the carpet, it slowed me down due to the pile!

    No change since 2017 review

Although claiming to be "wheelchair accessible" there are two steps at the front entrance and steps to some of the bedrooms. There has been no concern for wheelchair users whether getting in and out, or eating or drinking in the dining room. No acknowledgement of the issues when complaints made. Disabled parking bay outside occupied by a painter & decorator working in the building without displaying a Blue Badge (presumably with the management's approval).
