Cambridge Museum of Technology is the home of our industrial heritage. Based in the city’s historic sewage pumping station, the Museum helps people to explore, enjoy, and learn about their industrial heritage by celebrating the achievements of local industries and the people who worked in them.

Disabled Access at Cambridge Museum of Technology

The Museum is a historic site. In places, there are cobbles and uneven floors, so we recommend that you wear sensible shoes. Toilets and baby-changing facilities Gender-neutral, accessible toilets are in the Steam Engine Room and in the Pye Building. There are baby-changing facilities in the Pye Building. Seating There is seating in all the main areas of the Museum and there are benches around the site. Wheelchair access Site Map.JPG The entrance on Riverside offers step-free access to the ticket office and Pumping Station. Some areas of the historic Pumping Station are narrow or have uneven ground, but we have installed threshold ramps at small steps and most areas of the Pumping Station are accessible to most wheelchair users. There is a rough track up to the exhibitions on Pye and Cambridge Instrument Company, which can be difficult for some wheelchair users. Alternatively, you can use the public footpath and re-enter the site through the staff entrance. Accessibility for visitors with visual impairments Guide dogs are welcome in all areas and there are water bowls outside the ticket office and the Pye Building. Breastfeeding Unfortunately, the Museum does not have a designated breastfeeding area. There are chairs inside the buildings and benches outside, and you are welcome to breastfeed wherever you feel comfortable. If it is available, you are also welcome to use our meeting room in the Pye Building, which offers more privacy. Please ask a member of staff if it locked. DOGS Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome in our Museum. There are water bowls outside the ticket office and the Pye Building. We only ask dog owners to be considerate of other visitors who may not love dogs as much as we do.

Transport nearby Cambridge Museum of Technology

The Museum is best served by bus # 3 (direction Fison Road or Whitehill Estate if you are travelling from Cambridge Station or the city centre), bus # 11 (direction Newmarket if you are travelling from the city centre), or bus # 12 (direction Ely if you are travelling from the city centre). The closest stop is ‘Cambridge, River Lane’. Bus # 2 also stops nearby, an 8-minute walk across the river (direction City Centre from Cambridge North Station). The closest stop is ‘Chesterton, Chesterton Road’. Please see the Stagecoach website for timetables and maps. If you prefer to walk from the station, it takes 30 minutes from Cambridge Station or 20 minutes from Cambridge North Station
