A little with a lot

I popped into the CCA on my recent visit to the city, as I’d heard great things but hadn’t seen it reviewed on Euan’s Guide. What I found was an inclusive art space run by considerate staff, with a feature I haven’t seen in some large, well-funded museums.

Disabled Access at Centre for Contemporary Art Derry~Londonderry

CCA's entrance has a door operated with one handle. Upon entering there is a marked ramp up to the first two exhibition spaces. The third exhibition space is accessible by a ramp down. CCA's accessible toilet is accessible through a push door from the third gallery space and along a short corridor; the door width is 88cm wide. The toilet is also accessible via the second external door on Artillery Street.

The venue is all on one level, with no steps or raised thresholds.

The retail space is accessible, with step-free access and space to move around easily.

There is step-free access at the main entrance or an alternative entrance.

Follow step-free route for access to the accessible toilet through the Gallery 3 door to the corridor; the door width is 83cm. The toilet has a easy turn lock, taps, grab rails and an alarm.
