Chesterfield town centre
Chesterfield is a historic market town in Derbyshire, located 24miles north of Derby and 11 mile south of Sheffield. There are plenty of things too see and do in the town centre however not everything is easily accessible to someone who isn't able-bodied.
Chesterfield is known of its cobbled streets. For someone who is a wheelchair user, or for someone who is of poor mobility the this could be considered a disadvantage as there is no easier way to get around the town centre. There are drop curbs that try to enable the use of wheelchairs but the uneven paving stones do not help.
I didn't particularly notice any ramp acesses to shops or cafes but most of the modern places hace easy acess or sliding doors.
There are disables parking places and spots for blue badge holders if commuting by car. There are many bus stops around the town centre which enable access to the upper and lower halves of the town. The train station is approximately a 10 minute walk away but this can take considerably longer for wheelchair users, people using walking aids or for someone of poor mobility.
