3 reviewsThe Church Hill Theatre is a former church in the Morningside area of Edinburgh, designed in the late 1800s by Scottish architect Hippolyte Blanc, renowned for his Gothic revival style. Blanc was a prolific architect and antiquarian, who was involved in some high profile restoration projects, including Edinburgh Castle and John Knox House on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. This striking Category B listed pink sandstone church was converted into a theatre in the 1960s and over nearly 50 years has gained an established reputation as one of Scotland’s leading non-professional theatres. As well as being home to many of Edinburgh’s amateur theatrical companies, it is a popular venue for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Church Hill Theatre is owned by the City of Edinburgh Council and managed by the Assembly Rooms Team. Full of character and history, the venue has been refurbished and is available for event hire.
