We have commented on the suitability of the above holiday accommodation having booked it for 2 weeks in September 2017. We have looked at it from the perspective of having a profoundly disabled son who is totally wheelchair dependent and requires full assistance with all daily living activities. We feel that for those wheelchair users with limited mobility or those that require some assistance with transferring from wheelchair to bed then the accommodation is more than adequate. For those who are less able and require more assistance Cosawes Barton is suitable and has the space to accommodate lifting / transferring equipment.
Disabled Access In and Around
Excellent
Access to the single-story building is via wide double doors. All rooms are accessible for a wheelchair and the lounge / dining area is particularly spacious and has french doors which lead out to the rear paved area and gardens. The main corridor is more than wide enough for a wheelchair, the flooring in the corridor / kitchen / lounge / dining area is solid wood. The bedrooms are all carpeted. There is a twin bedroom directly facing the front door which was used by the wheelchair user, although the further two double bedrooms are larger and can both easily accommodate a wheelchair user. We used the hoist when transferring the wheelchair user from wheelchair to bed, initially in the adjoining double bedroom and the moving him into the twin bedroom in the hoist.
Parking & Transport
Excellent
There is adequate parking to the front of the property with a compacted stone/gravel drive way which is suitable for a wheelchair to move across. There is ample space for turning / reversing a large vehicle i.e. Volkswagen Caravels.
Accessible Toilets
Excellent
The main bathroom has a wet room / shower which was used by the wheelchair user with a Leckey bath / shower trolley. There are no hand rails in the main bathroom / wet room. We used a MO lift portable hoist when transferring from wheelchair to shower trolley, this was undertaken in the adjoining double bedroom and then moving the trolley with wheelchair user the short distance along the corridor into the wet room.

The owners are on site, very friendly and helpful.
