Excellent Italian style restaurant in Utrecht old town pedestrian zone.
Medium sized restaurant in a narrow street of restaurants in the centre of the Utrecht Old Town pedestrian zone. There were tables outside most of the restaurants, but they were quite full when we visited. This was one of the few with step free access to the inside - so our reason for choosing it.
The style was modern Italian (almost impossible to find trad Dutch food in Utrecht). We shared an Antepasta Mercato: a mixed starter of garlic prawns, tapenade, tomato salad, meatballs, croquettes, rocket, peanuts, hazelnuts & cashews, smoked salmon salad, carpaccio with pine nuts, Serano ham with horseradish mayonnaise and capers. It was the size of a full meal! For main I had a smoked duck and mixed lettuce salad with blackberry and walnut vinaigrette . I had initially ordered the full size, but the waiter said the starter size was large enough - he was right. My husband had a rare rib-eye steak with gremolata, chips, little gem lettuce salad with fennel. All the food was excellently presented and tasted great. We washed it down with a quarter litre each of local draught beer, and a small jenever each - all recommended by the waiter (when asked).
