Excellent
Derby Station is a large interchange for rail services. The site has tactile paving throughout, provide assisted travel and has four accessible toilets.
Disabled Access In and Around
Excellent
There is signage throughout and a braille large print map outside the main entrance. Tactile paving is fitted with lifts to all platforms and a subway to platforms 1 to 5. There are induction loops fitted, and staff available. There are waiting rooms on all platforms fitted with benches and higher seats. There are digital destination screens and announcements. Ramps are provided by staff to access trains.
Parking & Transport
Excellent
3 car parks are available, all with Blue Badge parking spaces. A large bus shelter provides connections with the city centre and the air port from the station front. There is also a taxi rank and a cycle storage hub.
Accessible Toilets
Good
There are 4 accessible toilets, 1 for each pair of platforms. 3 have wooden doors and 1, on platform 6, has an electric door. A radar key is required for some, but not all. They all have grab rails, an alarm and are clean and tidy. There is no changing places toilet.
Staff
Excellent
Staff welcome you at either entrance, sighted guidance, assistance with lugaggae, access ramps (level boarding is not available without a ramp at this station) and general assistance is available. It can be pre-booked on the railway website, by phone, or in person. You can also just turn up and go, but need to allow a bit more time if doing this (at least 20 mins). Staff are always helpful and welcoming even when busy.
