Down Arts Centre

Rang week before going for an event to check disabled access & was reassured. They even put note beside my name to leave space for wheelchair. On arrival found doors locked. Mix up with ticket times. Nothing to do with the centre but the event management. However, on seeing me in wheelchair outside with my husband , we were quickly brought inside & shown to their Art gallery to wait. Entrance on flat ground floor with ramp down to gallery. Low push button door opening accessible from wheelchair. Very attentive staff. On opening they escorted us up in lift where I was shown to my wheelchair space on front row. Chair beside had reserved sign on it with our name. I can’t comment on the loos as didn’t go, but based on everything else I would say they would have been acceptable. I felt the staff went above & beyond to make me welcome & comfortable. Based on this experience alone I will definitely be back & encourage others to do so as well. Lovely venue, lovely staff & glad to say, very disabled friendly 😊
