We saw the previous review and wondered how much had changed in 5 years. Not much. We knew the inside of the palace was reasonably inaccessible but had higher hopes of the ground. We found them to be unduly difficult to navigate and left after about 20 minutes. National Trust Falkland sort yourselves out.

Disabled Access In and Around

Risible. We knew that it would be unreasonable to expect to get up the spiral stairs inside the palace, but hoped to visit the grounds. We entered via a small ramp - which took us straight onto thick gravel in the entry way. National Trust Falkland - what did you think would happen? Welcome was helpful, the assistant came out to us (as we couldn't get up the step into the shop), and advised us of where we could go and where we would find difficult (most of the grounds). We managed the light gravel paths but could see no reason why part of them couldn't be paved. As it was dry we decided to cross the lawn. Access to this was via a small slope which was so rough and chewed up going up and down was like rally wheeling - jolting and uncomfortable. We could see no reason why this small slope couldn't be paved. We wanted to visit the interesting physic garden which was paved, but couldn't get in.

Parking & Transport

No dedicated parking but we were able to park on the road close to the entrance. The pavements are tricky to navigate with wheels - obstacles include cobbles, narrow sections and kerbs, but doable with determination and worth it for the pretty village.

Accessible Toilets

Odd. We didn't find it, but didn't look to hard. We were advised that there was an accessible toilet, but that there was a step to get into it. We thought this was an interesting and unusual interpretation of accessible. We didn't test it out.

Staff

Helpful within the limits of explaining what we probably couldn't do. Well meaning.
