Fort Nelson is a restored Victorian fort, placed on the top of portsdown hill overlooking Portsmouth harbor. It gives an exciting incite to what cannons and fortifications where used to protect the south coast. With its secret underground tunnels, ammunition bunkers and 19 acres of ramparts and fortifications , you are able to discover what it is like to live in this Victorian garrison including the kitchen and hospital. Fort nelson provides accessibility for all including lifts, ramps, super text captions for gallery films, wheelchairs and large print guide on request , disabled toilets, tills at wheelchair height, close disabled parking and can accommodate assistance dog. Fort nelson has different surfaces and levels that change in surfaces, such as gravel, grass, and cobbles. There are step with varying width, depth and height. that are ramp throughout the fort and lift in 2 of the areas. there is plenty of seating throughout

There is a main car park on site, with close disabled parking, with an overflow car park across the road.

Average
Disabled toilets are available in multiple location and are easy to fine, with enough room to move around. They are checked on a regular basis and kept clean and tidy. They have grab rails and room for a carer.

All the staff where very approachable and helpful when in need.

I would definitely recommend this place to others. It was a great day out for all the family.
