I am a disabled person. I have experience of challenges around: accessing toilets and moving around.

People parking across the dropped kerb (highlighted in red) in what is supposed to be a drop-off area is a common issue here.
The disabled spaces can be seen to the right of this photo which was taken about 20m from the main entrance.

All reception areas have low-level reception desks like this one.

Most of the accessible toilets are like this one... roomy and with the standard grab rail set-up.

There is one toilet by the Community Health waiting area which is less than ideal if, like me, you need at least one fixed grab rail. There are better ones at the Dental Clinic round the corner.
Note the red cord which is tied up to a rail. The notice reads that the call-bell isn't working and to ask a member of staff to wait outside if you think you might need help.

Overall Rating

Good

This is the only Health Centre in the Fort William area, a combined building with all three GP practices and a Community Health wing. My own GP is based here and I have also used the Physiotherapy, Dental Surgery, Podiatry, Eye Screening and Mental Health Services. I'm going to focus on the accessibility of the building so I won't discuss the quality of care here, rather the access issues which are not entirely ideal, especially for a healthcare facility.

Disabled Access In and Around

Excellent

The public areas of the Health Centre are fully accessible on a single level with automatic doors and fully level access at the entrance and wide corridors and clinical areas. There is a first floor but I don't think there's any clinical areas, and there is a lift anyway. All practice areas have low-level reception desks.

I travelled to this place by personal vehicle

There is a large free car park with 10 disabled spaces nearest the entrance. Unfortunately these are prone to abuse but rarely to the point of not being able to get one. If I have one bugbear, it's the poor provision of drop-down kerbs of which there are only two. One is at the ambulance bay which is, understandably, not always accessible. However, the other one at the drop-off point is constantly being blocked by vehicles in clear contravention of the Highway Code and could do with being signposted more obviously and having bollards and/or tactile paving installed. There are no parking attendants to deter either of these infractions of basic driving courtesy. It's also worth noting that, although the disabled spaces are the closest to the entrance, they're still a good 50m away. There is a bus-stop directly outside and buses run roughly half-hourly towards town and hourly towards Caol/Corpach and Spean/Roybridge.

Accessible Toilets

Good

There are accessible toilets in both my practice and the Community Health wing. The toilet in the Community wing is not ideal if, like me, you need the combination of fixed and drop-down rails to transfer. The toilet itself is in the centre of the room with just drop-down rails either side. I'm sure this is a recent change as I remember using it without problems as recently as October last year. However, the accessible toilets at the nearby Dental clinic are better, as are the ones in my GP practice. I assume that the other practices are the same.
