Venue Description

Part of the Institut Français worldwide network, the French Institute in Scotland encourages cross-cultural exchanges and promotes French culture with a wide range of activities: French courses, film screenings, library collections, kids activities, festivals, talks, and concerts. In the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, along the world-renowned Royal Mile and facing the impressive St Giles Cathedral, the French Institute in Scotland is located in the former Lothian Chambers. The builidng is also home of the Consulate General of France, Le Bistrot restaurant, the Edinburgh Art Festival's office, the Edinburgh office of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

Accessibility

The building can be entered via a step-free entrance from George IV bridge. There are two passenger lifts suitable for disabled visitors that allow access to all floors.

Toilets

There are gender neutral accessible toilets on the ground floor and first floor. There are female and male accessible toilets on the second and third floor.
