Overview

As Christmas markets go, they are often very similarly themed and offering the same experience. The George Street Market takes up the whole of the Square and is more Family orientated with funfair rides and more foods you can shake a stick at. It combines this and aMarket place atmosphere with crafts, ceramics, lighting, jewellery, pottery picture and framed arts and lots of hot food and drink from different cultures. There are 2 sit down areas in a marquee style, these are ramped throughout, toilets of a portable type so have limitations even the ones marked for disabled access. The layout and positioning of stalls is less chaotic and more spacious in terms of width between aisles than that previously, you do need however to be aware of cabling that is taped down, what helps with more room and less congestion is no ice rink. Access is directly off the road side with entrance and exits on all 4 sides, the market is staffed throughout by security employees, some SAI badge holders. The staff were particularly friendly and helpful. Around the Square is parking, but

Staff

Stall holders were from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds, for some English not their first language, but friendly and helpful.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

The staff were particularly aware of the varied range of mobility in our group, some stalls were mostly a bit out of reach for wheelchair users. The foods, drinks coming from various cultures and backgrounds is always an experiential opportunity not to be missed.
