Disabled Travellers enjoy shopping (Gloucester part 1)

SAT NAV DIRECTIONS. We were very impressed with the shopping outlet, very clean, well maintained, and having a number of well known designer outlets, at very reasonable cost, and close enough to the docks itself to allow a very pleasant few hours visiting. When you arrive at Sat NAV directions, you have a choice of parking. There are a few usual stores available with a large outdoor parking and disabled bays (photo 1) and we popped in to buy one or two items, especially the well stocked Hobby craft store (photo 2) and this car park was very handy for us, with 3 hours free parking. On a dry day this is very handy, and right across the road is the entrance into the Gloucester Quay outlet shops (photo 3) which is just a short walk, and up the ramp into the shops themselves. However, if you wish to park up at the Outlet itself, just drive straight ahead and over the traffic lights, then keep to right hand lane and drive up to the first floor where you will find many disabled bays (photo 4). Take you parking ticket with you and your disabled badge, leaving your timer clock in the car, and get this stamped at customer services later on. Take the lift down to ground floor level (photo 5) and you will come out into the very attractive and spotlessly clean shopping area (photo 6). One point of call for us was to Lindt chocolate shop, and we were tempted we must confess (photo 7). Further along we found Costa coffee (photo 8) and we were very impressed with this, it’s quite a large seating area, very clean, good coffee, and you can place your chair out of the way of other users. The same photo shows that right next door is the customer service desk, and it’s here you get you parking ticket stamped ready to depart later. The shops now go around and back up towards where you parked your car (photo 9) and along here you will find toilets. (photo 10) with a disabled available, but you do need to have a radar key to be able to use it (photo 11) Just a few feet later and you can go out of the shops into the side streets (photo 12) and if you walk to your right you can stroll along towards the docks (photo 13). We really did like this area, it’s very clean, well looked after, and you can manage quite well with your chair, although there is a small slope to contend with (photo 14) Before you are in a large open square with many cafes and pubs available, again very clean area (photo 15). The first building you pass over to your left is the Gloucester museum entrance (photo 16) and it’s from here you can catch the canal boat trip (photo 17) but if you walk on a few more feet you will reach the basin (photo 18). If you walk along and over towards the right, you can continue to the shopping area for Gloucester centre itself. Return now to the docks, retrace your steps to the shopping mall (photo 19) and back along to your car (photo 20). OUR FINAL THOUGHTS We highly recommend a visit, it’s clean, beautifully done up, the shining marbled floor is very attractive. Good selection of nice shops, very easy to get around. Down at the docks, was very nice as well, it was clean, and easy to get around.

    Great for shopping...

A pain in the backside if you are only visiting the cinema or restaurants (which is where I mostly go) because the only point to get parking validated is at the far end of the shopping centre, IE the furthest point from the cinema and restaurants. Good toilet facilities, but don't forget your radar key.
